Beginner Guide
This page is written for players who want a clean starting point: what to practice first, what matters in matches, and how to avoid common early mistakes.
1) Learn a simple “first week” loop
If you’re new to tag fighters, don’t chase long combos immediately. Your fastest improvement comes from three habits: (a) block calmly, (b) confirm one reliable starter into a short combo, and (c) understand when tagging is safe.
- Play 10 matches focusing only on movement + blocking.
- Spend 10 minutes in training practicing a short, repeatable combo.
- Watch one Counter Tag example and try the timing in training.
2) What to practice first
- Anti-air: one button you can hit consistently when the opponent jumps.
- Confirm: a starter you can recognize and finish into damage.
- Defense: learn to stop mashing and wait for your turn.
3) Tag basics (player version)
Tagging isn’t “free.” Good teams use tags to keep pressure safe, extend a confirmed hit, or escape a bad situation. Bad tags happen when you tag out of panic. If you’re losing neutral, slow down and reset your spacing instead.
